I am currently cleaning out my closet and I find that I have too many dresses. Don’t get me wrong, I actually love dresses and find them very easy to wear. Dresses can be worn with flats for a simple, casual look or they can be dressed up with heels. Dresses can be worn for almost every occasion. I do enjoy my dresses, but I also I wanted to change thing up a bit. So today, I am posting about how to update an old dress.
How to Update an old dress
You can easily update an old dress by layering a sweater over your favorite dress. This creates a look of a sweater and skirt kind of look. This instant change to your dress is significant. You can change the feel of your outfit by choosing a top that constrasts with your original dress or complements it. You can also use a fitted sweater for a more streamlined look or you can use a bulky knit sweater for a casual chic look. I usually look for a sweater that works well with my old dress, making sure the dress doesn’t bunch up awkwardly under. If you want to add a little bit more detail, you can also belt over the sweater.
For my outfit of the day, I am wearing one of my favorite dress by BCBG Max Azria. Because of the bold colors of this dress, it is quite memorable, so I try not to wear it often. In order to give it new life, I would wear a sweater over this colorful dress. I layered a soft pink sweater from Abercrombie over this dress for this how to update an old dress post. The pink sweater softens the look of this bold dress, making it perfect for a casual day out. I paired this look with simple sandals from Target and my trusty Louis Vuitton Neverfull.
