“When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. ”

It’s important to remember to give thanks for even the smallest things everyday. I sometimes forget to do this and become focused on what is going wrong.  Maybe it’s the repetitiveness of my days that makes me miss my life before mommy life. It’s funny how its easy to forget the good things that is happening and look at what is missing.

I would tell H that I miss working. I miss the everyday interaction with other adults, the schedules, and the excitement for Friday night to come.  I miss the alarm clocks on the weekdays and the hustle and bustle of the day.  And he would remind me that because of my life now, I am also able to do a lot more.  Like take a trip to Disneyland on a Wednesday. Or go to Europe for  a week.  And visit my family in Arizona on a monthly basis. He would remind me that I get to spend time with C.  And not stress about work.

It’s funny how I would talk about missing the chaos of work, while some of my friends wish they didn’t have to work.  I don’t know what it is about people, that we tend to focus on what others’ have.  At the end of the day, what matters is that we look into our own lives, and give thanks for what we have, no matter how small.IMG_1495dress, worn as a top-Xhilaration, leggings-Caslon- boots- Nickels, rings-Forever21, earrings- Ippolita, sunnies-Kenneth Cole
