Turmeric latte recipe

Turmeric latte recipe

I had my first turmeric latte at Le Pain Quotidien at the Calabasas Commons and though it was quite different, it was also delicious.  When it comes to latte, I love me some chai tea latte or vanilla latte, but venturing out a little, I decided to try this gold colored drink.  The benefits of turmeric are nothing new  to me, and in fact, I take a couple of turmeric capsules from Costco whenever I remember to.  Turmeric is  part of the ginger family and is said to have anti-inflammatory benefits, antioxidants, may improve brain functioning, and may lower heart disease- among others.  Though these things are not scientifically proven, as a spice, I think it can’t hurt to have a little turmeric here and there.  I wouldn’t take turmeric solely for the purpose of healing myself, however, I like to enjoy healthful food like ginger, turmeric, green tea, etc., as a complement to my overall diet.  Like everything else in life, I am a firm believer of moderation, whether it is in indulgent items like cheesecake or wine, or something that may be healthy, like turmeric latte.  So anyway, I wanted to share my take on a turmeric latte recipe, which you can see below.  The recipe calls for about 1 cup, but modify as you want.

Turmeric Latte Recipe

1 cup of plain almond milk

1 teaspoon of coconut milk

1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1/4 teaspoon of ginger (I prefer a little bit more)

1-2 teaspoon of honey

a sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions:

1. Heat the almond milk in a saucepan and gently mix in all the other ingredients.

2. You can also heat a cup of almond milk in the microwave to your desired temperature and then slowly mix in the rest of the ingredients.

3. Enjoy your drink!
