Malibu day

One of the things that I love about living in Calabasas is the close proximity to Malibu Beach. I think in less than 15 minutes, we are right on the beach, which makes for amazing impromptu trips to the ocean.  Today, the boys and I worked out at the Calabasas High School, and afterwards, decided to stop for frozen yogurt at Golden Spoon, only to find this ice cream shop closed, probably because of Easter.

On a whim, we decided to drive to Malibu Frozen Yogurt, and of course, just went ahead and picked up some snacks and sand toys at the nearby CVS to make it a Malibu day.  It was slightly overcast, but the beach was actually absolutely perfect.  It wasn’t too hot, almost cool, and there were plenty of sand space. We walked from one end to another, sadly finding a dead seagull on the sand and also discovering a large rock full of mussels.

It was quite an adventurous Malibu day, different from our usual beach days because of our long walk on the shore.  We usually stay around our beach blanket, letting the kids play with the sand and water, soaking in the sun, but not really venturing out.  But today, we had a completely different experience at the beach- exploring and running around.

There’s definitely something about being on the beach, seeing the vast ocean and hearing the waves gently crash into shores. If you live in California, or just visiting, Malibu is definitely a place to stop by.  Not overly crowded like Santa Monica or Venicr Beach, it is just as relaxing and beautiful, maybe more so because of its secludedness.
