Last summer, my kiddos, parents and I went on a 7 day vacation at Disney Aulani in Oahu. Hubby hates to travel, so in his place, my parents went instead. This was our second time in Hawaii, and this time, we stayed at Aulani, a Disney resort and spa. Our Disney Aulani trip was pretty magical for the kids (and my parents). They really enjoyed the ambience of the whole Disney resort , and I thought it was pretty fun. For luxe travelers like my hubby (who does not travel unless it’s “comfortable”), Aulani would not have been a good place to take him. As a Disney resort, Aulani is definitely touristy and not very private. The elevators were never not empty and you can expect to run into a number of people at all times. The suites are also not overly spacious and not super luxurious. However, I did not choose Aulani for myself nor for my husband, but instead for my kiddos. And let me tell you, it was one of the best vacations they have ever had. Seven days were not enough to frolick in the sun and play in the ocean and beaches. Geared towards family and kids, Aulani is the perfect Hawaiian destination for the entire family (granted your hubby or wife is not a picky traveler). There are various water attractions like the Keiki Cove Splash Zone, Menehune Bridge, Waikolohe Stream, and Wailana Pool. They also have a kid’s club, Aunty’s Beach House, which is a great non water alternative destination for the kids. During our stay, we also enjoyed a character breakfast, which was so fun for the kids. The resort itself is beautiful, situated on the gorgeous beaches of Ko’ Olina. The views are absolutely stunning and the food, no matter where you go, does not disappoint. I thought the Disney Aulani trip was a wonderful vacation for my kiddos, and if you are looking for a fun, family getaway, I highly recommend it.
