Denim Shorts and Fringes

by Lesley Kim

Hi everyone! I’m just going to make this a short outfit of the day post.   I love wearing denim shorts for the summer.  You can easily dress them down or dress them up.  For my ootd, my loose abstract print top is from JCPenney, shorts from Abercrombie&Fitch, sandals by Steve Madden and fringe crossbody handbag from Nordstrom Rack.  Have a great day!

Pastel Dress Today

by Lesley Kim

Hi everyone! I have been feeling sick so I haven’t been productive lately. I have so much organizing to do, I am seriously thinking of hiring an organizer.  Has anyone ever tried this? I am pretty neurotic though and will probably be most comfortable handling my things myself even though this will probably take me months to accomplish. Anyway, I have been rummaging through my closet to donate and I found this “maternity” pastel dress.  I love the color for the season, and it’s loose and airy. I think my favorite color palettes are those in the pastel family, however, I am obsessed with neutrals lately.  Our entire house is surprisingly very neutral and I am loving it. Well I hope you are having a great week so far. I am going back to organizing =)….. xoxo

MAC Lipsticks Review

by Lesley Kim

I ordered 4 new MAC lipsticks from www.nordstrom.com, and I am so happy to receive these beauty products.  When ordering my MAC beauty products, I usually like to order from Nordstrom. They have free shipping, and if I ever need to return or exchange a product, I feel like it’s much less hassle. Today, I am reviewing the 4 lipstick colors I purchased-  Gossamer Wing (Lustre), Ring my Bell (Glaze), Long Legged and Fabulous (CremeSheen), and Have Your Cake (Matte).

MAC lipsticks

Gossamer Wing (Lustre), Ring my Bell (Glaze), Long Legged and Fabulous (CremeSheen), and Have Your Cake (Matte)

MAC Lipsticks

Long Legged & Fabulous

I typically gravitate towards Matte Lipsticks but its nice to have a little change so I decided to try the Lustre, Glaze and Cremesheen lipsticks from MAC.  I think the Gossamer Wing and Ring my Bell were more on the nude color spectrum with sheen to it.  I would use these lipsticks for everyday, simple use, and possibly even on top of other brighter lip colors.  They would definitely add a glossy finish to my other Matte MAC lipsticks.   Long Legged & Fabulous and Have Your Cake, on the other hand, are brighter colors that would look amazing for days I want a more pronounced lip color.

MAC lipsticks

Have Your Cake

I think I just love to have a variety of lipsticks and the best things about these beauty products is you can layer them or mix them to create the perfect color.  I would recommend these 4 lipsticks if you are like me, who likes to have options. I believe that a new lipstick can update your style in an affordable and easy way. However,  if you are looking for an everyday color, these 4 colors are probably not for you. I would recommend the MAC lipstick Brave (Satin) instead, which I love!!

Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Instant Fusion Review

by Lesley Kim

I received the Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Instant Infusion from a friend, and always the one to try new things, I wanted to share  my experience with this toner. The Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Instant Infusion can be purchased from retail stores such as Sephora or www.fresh.com for $48.00.

A little bit about this toner:

“Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Instant Infusion is proven to provide 24 hours of moisture and significant protection from environmental stressors while evening skin tone and refining skin texture. The radiance-boosting formula also softens the skin which allows ingredients to penetrate more deeply, enhancing the efficacy of your complete skincare ritual.” (www.fresh.com)

Ingredients include:

  • A proprietary complex derived from a potent blend of black tea, blackberry leaf extract, and lychee seed extract is proven to inhibit damaging free radicals and improve skin elasticity.**
  • Polysaccharides help to smooth the skin.
  • Japanese mandarin extract helps boost radiance and even skin tone.
  • Hyaluronic acid works to attract and seal in moisture for supple skin.
  • Rosewater is notable for its soothing and balancing properties.
  • Vitamins E and C help protect the skin. (www.fresh.com)

Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Instant Fusion ReviewFresh Black Tea Age Delay Instant Fusion Review

My Review:

I kind of like the Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Instant Fusion, maybe because I love the ingredients.  The directions state that you can apply this product via cotton ball or with your fingertips. I prefer to sprinkle about 10 drops into my palm and pat this toner onto my cleansed skin.  The consistency of this toner is thicker, almost like a watery gel, so I feel like a cotton ball will just soak up all of its goodness.  I think this toner hydrates my skin, especially after washing my face, and it sets my skin properly for my moisturizer. I feel like my skin is softer and more moisturized when using this product, and one bottle will definitely last a very long time.

FarmhouseFresh Products

by Lesley Kim

I am so excited to receive the FarmHouseFresh products that I ordered from www.farmhousefreshgoods.com.  I love natural products and FHF products are the most delicious smelling natural products I have ever come across.  (I used Fresh products for a long time and I was disappointed to know that most of their products contain parabens.)

A little bit about FHF, “Each product is made with up to 99.6% natural and naturally-derived ingredients. Everything (they) make is Paraben & Sulfate FREE and our fragrances are all natural or phthalate free. Many of (their) products are also Vegan and Gluten Free.” (www.farmhousefreshgoods.com).

FarmHouseFresh Products

My favorite FHF products are the backcountry caramel lotion and the sweet cream lotion.  These scents are sweet, luscious and will remind you of decadent ice cream.  The ones in the picture above are travel sizes, at 2.4 oz for $14.00.  The larger sizes for home come at 10 oz for $28.00. The lotions are rich, creamy and will moisturize your skin like no other lotion.  The scent is also comforting and will follow you around in a gentle halo all day.  If you want to try other FHF products, I am also obsessed with their natural Splendid Dirt Nutrient Mud Mask with Organic Pumpkin Puree, $22 for 3.25 oz,

Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber Review

by Lesley Kim

Fiber Lashes are extremely popular these days, so when I saw Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber at sephora.com, I decided to try it.  The Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber is $19.00 at stores like sephora, macys, and tartecosmetics.

“What it is:
An easy-to-apply, faux lash system with sculpting fibers that enhance lash length and volume to create the appearance of false eyelashes.

What it does:
Get the wide-eyed look of false eyelashes at home without the traditional faux lashes. The lightweight, black sculpting fibers seamlessly build onto your own lashes to achieve a naturally voluminous eye look in three simple steps: First, prep lashes with the included Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara. Next, extend lashes with fibers, using a gentle patting motion, and apply fibers onto top of lashes, starting at the middle and working outwards toward the tip. Finally, set them in place with mascara, applying a final coat to lock in the fibers—leaving lashes with dramatic volume.

This set contains:
– 0.10 oz Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara
– 0.028 oz Nylon lash fibers

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Phthalates

What else you need to know:
This product is vegan-friendly and dermatologist-tested.” (www.sephora.com)

My Review:

I was really excited to try the Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber.  I sometimes wear fake lashes but I find them time consuming and difficult at times. I wanted to see if a fiber lash mascara can do a similar job. First of all, the Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber is not a mascara.  You first apply mascara, then the extending fiber, and then another coat of mascara to set the fibers.  You can always add another coat of fiber lash to make your lashes more dramatic, but you always have to end with a coat of mascara.  Overall, I didn’t think that the effect of the Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber was dramatic. I think that a good mascara can achieve a similar effect, but the Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber does add more volume and length. I am somewhat neutral regarding the Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fiber.  It is quite expensive for $19.00, without really adding the dramatic results that I wanted.

DIY Peppermint and Citrus Hand sanitizer

by Lesley Kim

One of the easiest DIYS ever are hand sanitizer sprays.  They literally take about 2 minutes to make.  When my Everyone Peppermint and Citrus Hand Sanitizer Spray ran out, I washed the bottle with soap and water so I can reuse it and make my very own DIY Peppermint and Citrus Hand Sanitizer.  I wiped the bottle with a clean towel and let it air dry until fully dry.

DIY Peppermint and Citrus Hand sanitizer

Now the fun part!  Pour 1/3 purified or bottled water in the clean bottle and then add 2/3 rubbing alcohol.  Gently swirl around.  Then carefully add about 7 drops of lemon essential oil, 5 drops of peppermint oil, 5 drops of lavender oil, and 3 drops of tangerine oil.  Add a few drops of Vitamin E oil and cap the bottle.  Gently shake the mixture, and you have made your very own DIY Peppermint and Citrus Hand Sanitizer!

For your ingredients:  You can purchase an essential oil sampler from online stores like amazon.com.  Rubbing Alcohol can be purchased at Target, and Vitamin E oil from CVS or Walgreens.

LemonGrass Lip Balm Recipe

by Lesley Kim

The scent of lemongrass just takes me back to a relaxing spa.  This calming scent seems to just dissipate all my stress away, which is why I probably like to use this essential oil in many of my DIY homemade skincare.  Today, I wanted to share one of my favorite homemade lemongrass lip balm recipe, featuring of course, the lemongrass essential oil.

LemonGrass Lip Balm Recipe

In a clean, microwave safe bowl, combine 6 parts coconut oil to 1 part beeswax.  Melt in a microwave in 5 seconds interval until the two ingredients are melted.  Be careful as the mixture will be very hot.  Gently stir and mix with a spoon.

LemonGrass Lip Balm Recipe

Once  the coconut oil and beeswax have mixed and slightly cooled, add a few drops of Vitamin E oil.  Add about 3-5 drops of lemongrass oil, depending on the strength of your essential oil.

LemonGrass Lip Balm Recipe

Gently pour the mixture in your lip balm containers and allow to harden, which should take approximately 15 minutes.  Your lemongrass lip balm is ready to use!  I hope you enjoy this LemonGrass Lip Balm Recipe. =)

Michael Todd Eyeosonic Duo Review

by Lesley Kim

I really wanted to buy Clarisonic Opal, but for $185, I was extremely hesitant to try this promising beauty device. Luckily, I saw a LivingSocial  deal for Michael Todd EyeSonic Duo, which features a similar type of sonic vibrations that enhances the absorption of eye cream for $29, regularly $107 at the Michael Todd website. So of course I had to try this serum infusion system.

Michael Todd Eyeosonic

Eyeosonic Duo is a Sonic-Ionic Serum Infusion System, infuser and organic eye cream

Sonic waves and ion technology in one! eyeosonic is the next generation in the care of the delicate skin around the eyes and fine lines above the upper lip. Skin care products can nourish and moisturize better when absorbed deeper and more evenly into the skin than with fingers alone. Eyeosonic combines (i) sonic waves at 160 oscillations per secondwith (ii) ion technology to make our INTENSIVE Organic Eye Cream more effective by amping up absorption into the skin.

Using electrically charged ions and sonic vibration, eyeosonic penetrates through the skins outer “wall” to the living cells beneath to carry nutrients and moisture in your creams and serum deeper into the skin where they can do the most good. Aestheticians (specialists in skin beautification) recommend that products used on the skin around the eyes be applied with gentle tapping rather than rubbing to avoid damaging the delicate skin in this area.  eye-o-sonic replaces manual rubbing and tapping with sonic vibrations like 100’s of finger taps a second to better infuse serums.

The result is the skin around your eyes is left nourished, hydrated, refreshed and feeling great. Plus the eye-o-sonic is fun to use and relaxing. So once you’ve tried the eye-o-sonic, you will never want to go back to applying eye cream and serums with your fingers again.

Included with your eye-o-sonic serum Infuser is our full size INTENSIVE Organic Eye Cream with Haloxyl® and Eyeliss® a cutting edge advanced treatment for the skin around the eyes. (A $38 value):

INTENSIVE is made in the U.S. with 90% organic ingredients and contains NO parabens, sulfates, artificial color or fragrance or added water. Not tested on animals. “Tops my list of best eye cream treatments” according to Andrew Ordon, M.D., co-host of CBS’ “The Doctors.”  15 ml / .5 fl oz

The eyeosonic and eyecream from Michael Todd is a powerful solution for those looking for extra help with the signs of aging in the eye area.

Michael Todd Eyeosonic

I really love the eye sonic infuser.  It provides a light and gentle vibration that feels soothing.  I  feel like the eye sonic infuser truly helped with massaging my eye cream into the delicate areas under the skin.  I haven’t been using the eye cream that came with the device as I find it irritates my eyes, but the infuser is amazing.  I even use it on my forehead to relieve tension and ease my frown lines.  For $29, I highly recommend the Michael Todd eyeosonic Duo.  I, however, would not buy it for full price.

Hemp Milk and Oatmeal Face Mask

by Lesley Kim

My skin has been parched and dry lately. In need of a new, moisturizing, and anti aging DIY face mask, I made a simple hemp milk and oatmeal face mask.  I love hemp milk, and if you haven’t tried it, it’s worth a try.  I have found this vegan milk from places like Whole Foods, Ralphs, and other health food stores.  Hemp milk tastes creamy and delicious, though more on the thick side.  It also works well in DIY face masks, as you can see from this post =).

Hemp Milk and Oatmeal Face MaskIngredients:

1 teaspoon raw oatmeal

2 teaspoon hemp milk

1/2 teaspoon of honey

Hemp Milk and Oatmeal Face MaskMix all the ingredients with a hand blender or with a spoon, mashing the oatmeal.

_MG_0715Add a few drops of moisturizing oil.  I like to use evening primrose oil.
With a cotton ball, apply all over the face.  Let dry for about 10 minutes. Then with a wet towelette, wipe off.  Rinse again with warm water and apply your favorite moisturizer.
