“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”
Dalai Lama I am seriously obsessed with the Dalai Lama. I haven’t really been keeping up with his teachings, but the little that I do know about him, I just love. If I could reinvent myself, I would make myself into a minimalist. But in reality, I just want too many things, have too many things, and love too many things.
The Dalai Lama does preach one thing that I know I can incorporate into my life. And that is to be kind. The Dalai Lama states that being kind is always possible. Such a simple statement, but carries so much weight. It’s not always effortless to be kind. Some days, some situations, and some people can make it difficult to be kind. Sometimes it is myself who makes it difficult to be kind. I have always hoped that people who I have known never thought of me as unkind. But it is only as I get older that I really understood the importance of being kind. Now that I have a little one, I worry about the many things that I may forget to teach him. I want to write him a book so he will know all of my dreams and hopes for him. Every piece of advice and thought that crosses my mind, I want to jot down, in case I forget to ever mention it to him one day. But even if I do write as much as I can, I know there will be things that I will forget to mention. But book or not, the one thing I will not forget to ever remind him…is to be kind.
